wheel.me
At wheel.mewe build robotics infrastructure from the ground up – combining custom hardware, embedded systems, real-time robotics software, and cloud-based management tools. Our core innovation, Genius, is the world’s first autonomous wheel, transforming ordinary equipment into intelligent mobile robots that operate safely and efficiently in real-world environments. Designed and manufactured in Norway, our systems are deployed to customers worldwide. We’re looking for a robotics systems architect who can define the technical direction of our platform and ensure the team builds toward it. This is an architecture-focused engineering role. You’ll own the overall system architecture, define clear solutions and requirements for the team, and maintain a technical roadmap that translates direction into execution. You’re here to make sure we build the right system.
What you will drive
- Overall system architecture of the wheel.me software platform, including configuration interfaces, observability and monitoring, and communication across our stack
- Technical roadmap – from architectural vision to concrete priorities and actionable tasks
- Solutions and requirements that enable engineering teams to execute with clarity
- Drive architectural decisions and ensure they are communicated and followed through
Required experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybernetics, Informatics, or similar
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record in systems architecture roles
- Proven experience designing and delivering robotics systems in real-world production environments, with a track record of systems that are tested, reliable, and well documented
- Experience working across software, hardware, and system integration, with awareness of hardware constraints and real-world tradeoffs
- Experience defining architecture, requirements, and technical roadmaps for engineering teams
What we’re looking for
- Strong system-level thinking and end-to-end architectural reasoning
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including a solid understanding of systems programming concepts – memory management, compilation, real-time constraints, production software practices, standards, and best practices
- Ability to translate high-level architecture into a clear roadmap and execution planAbility to evaluate and communicate trade-offs – technical and business
- Clear, structured technical documentation and communication
- Tech stack flexibility – system thinking over language preference
What we offer
- A strategic role where your architectural decisions directly shape a world-first robotics product
